Product Details

The HT Enterprises Polar Therm Extreme Tip-Up gives ice anglers a freeze-proof, underwater system that keeps holes open and presentations clean when chasing panfish, walleye, lake trout, and northern pike through long stretches of subzero weather. Its patented trip mechanism stays responsive beneath the thermal cover, while the natural heat of open water slows refreezing and preserves your set. Adjustable trip tension helps match light-bite crappies or heavier deep-water predators, and the foam hook holder under the spool keeps rigs tangle-free during transport. Rugged, lightweight space-age plastic stays warm to the touch, and the built-in tackle box streamlines setup at the hole. The entire unit fits neatly into a five-gallon bucket, making it easy to run multiple Polar Therm Extremes across an active spread.

  • Freeze-proof underwater trip mechanism with thermal action to keep holes open
  • Adjustable tension settings for panfish, walleye, trout, and northerns
  • Foam hook holder prevents tangles; rugged, lightweight construction
  • Built-in tackle box and bucket-friendly profile for quick setup and transport

Broke the flag after 5 uses. Ordered a new flag. By the pic maybe this one will accept a night light without bending the flag post. Little tackle storage box is nice. I won't by anymore - staying… Read More

These are by far the best traps I've ever used. Their best feature is the fact that they're stackable 5 deep in a six gallon bucket and they always remain untangled while stored . They don't freeze easily or quickly; I've never had any difficulty removing them from the ice even when the temperature plummets below 0.They allow you to see how a fish is running from above the ice at a decent distance by watching the T at the top of the trap. They're very rugged, a friend of mine has a few too, I watched his get run over by a snowmobile and with the exception of the telescopic flag being bent and cracked the rest of the trap was completely undamaged! I've been using these for 6 or 7 years and they're no worse for wear. I've caught countless Crappie and Perch, plenty of Pickerel,Pike,Walleye,Bass, and the occasional Laker. They've worked well for every species of fish I have chased. I can say without a doubt that if I lost these, I would definitely replace them with 5 more of the same. I can't say enough good things about them, I truly think they're the best traps available, but there are a couple of negatives: If you're fishing in a snowstorm they will quickly get covered up with snow. if you get several inches of snow they will become difficult to find, and may get run over by a snowmobile . They don't dry out while stored in their bucket. They really need to be removed from the bucket to dry thoroughly. If you take them out on Saturday evening and try to set them back up Sunday morning after they've been sitting in their bucket, in your truck all night, you'll find the spools to be a sold frozen chunk of pain in the ass. I almost always take them inside after fishing so this has only been an issue for me once. One last thing, I have 3 of these orange ones which have a 200' spool capacity and 2 of the same yellow ones which have a 500' spool capacity. I've personally never had a problem with a fish spooling the reel and taking all 200' of line, however as hard as I have tried; I've yet to catch a really large, deep water Lake Trout. If I do, I hope it's with the yellow one.
